Hi, and welcome to the Getaway Guide, formerly known as SallyAkins.com
I wrote this post back in September 2012 when the site first went live. The site has changed a lot since then, not least because it now has a different name.
But I like to leave the original text in place to remind me how far the site has come from those early days. My sons are all now in their 20s, and I’m definitely no longer a tennis Mum. I’ve moved on from studying Nutritional Therapy and now I’m studying Linguistics alongside running this site and a boutique content writing site.
So, however you stumbled across this post, I hope you enjoy reading The Getaway Guide!
Here you will find a lot of useful information about healthy eating and nutrition, and a range of great recipes which will fit right into your busy life. I’m a great believer in eating healthily, but regular treats are an important part of a balanced diet!
I’ll also be looking out for great places to eat out, trying out new products – anything to do with good food and healthy eating really. Let me tell you a bit about myself…
My name is Sally Akins (as you have probably worked out!) and I live in beautiful Shropshire with my husband and our two sons – Ollie (10 years old) and Lyle (8 years old).
I taught myself to cook when I was about 14 years old – I’d like to think I’ve come a long way from those first days of spaghetti bolognaise though! I love cooking and eating good food, and as I am also a tennis mum, I am always on the lookout for great meals that will fit into our family’s busy schedule.
As well as a general interest in food and cooking, I am particularly interested in nutrition so in March 2012 I completed a 2 year diploma in Nutritional Therapy with Premier Training Ltd. I’m now in the middle of a second diploma, this time in Sports Nutrition.
I hope you will enjoy reading my website – if you’d like to get in touch, you can find me in various places on the web. The links are all at the side of this page.
